Retrieving the pfx file

Unfortunately, The database which LiveCycleES was using got dropped and i didn't had the backup for the same.

So, I again performed the installation activity of the product using the serial key that i had. But, I don't have the old pfx/p12 file that was used to authenticate in Reader Extension.

Can anyone help me out as from where to get/retrieve the old pfx file.

Reader does a "save as" instead of a "save" on first save of an enabled form

I have a form created using LC Designer and extended using Acrobat (Save As Other --> Reader Extended PDF --> Enable More Tools).

When I enter data using Adobe Reader and File-->Save, it behaves as though I had selected "Save As".  If I want to overwrite the file, it prompts me to confirm.  From then on, when I save it behaves as expected (i.e. it automatically overwrites the file with my changes).  If I close the file and open it again, then make changes, then save, it does a "save as" again.

I don't want it to handle "save" as a "save as".  Anyone know a way to avoid this behaviour?

Reader extension expiry

I am interested to know what happens to a PDF that has been Reader Extended with signed Digital Signature (PKI) information within it. In this use case, the document is filled, locked (using PKI signature) and is stored in a suitable document management system.

  • What happens to the PDF / data after the RE credential expires?
  • Is it still accessible / readable / printable as a PDF?
  • Is there a way to archive a R/E PDF with PKI signatures without removing the information?

Thanks,

Darren

Install Chinese Language Package??

I have created several forms in LiveCycle Designer ES4. When I send the forms as dynamic PDFs to others to use they are unable to use the documents. The receive an error when they attempt to open the items stating that they must install the Traditional Chinese Language Support Package. There is no Chinese in the forms. They are entirely in English. How can I fix this issue so that my users can view my forms??

Thanks,

calculated paper bar codes

I have several adobe forms that need to transform a field that the user populates into a barcode. I can create the form using the barcodes and it works fine in Adobe pro. However not in Reader. I have been told I need Reader Extensions, but the sales rep will not return any of my (nor my collegues) calls to find out prices and how to purchase.

Does anyone know of an alternative? I have a feeling they just don't want to sell this to anyone so I need to find a solution one way or the other. I have been calling between Sales and Support now for almost a month.

paper barcodes

I am trying to put together a project for our users so that they can scan documents from our warehouse storage and also future files (Papers printed by clients and or office staff) into our document imaging system (DI) using cover sheets. We are doing it currently with our DI reading text fields, however, sometimes our workflows do not read the text well, paper may be scanned in skewed, may have spots on it and or may be scanned in incorrectly, and we end up needing user interference to fix/edit the issues before the documents go to their final storage place.

We experimented with barcodes and found that if we added barcodes to the coversheet we could allow the DI system to search a whole page for a barcode and it would read it with 100% accuracy.

So we created bar codes on our coversheets that would calculate themselves depending on how a user filled in a particular text field such as an employee ID or a registration number such as a jailing ID, a date of the event and the name of the type of form. This would dictate where the form would be stored in the DI system. Our DI system imports documents, reads the pages, if it finds a bar code it will assume it is page 1 of a document, the next process will read the bar codes and determine how to populate the meta data in our DI system and store it accordingly or email a user to tell them that a user must add any missing items.

This works perfectly if one uses Adobe Livecycle Designer to create the form and inserts Paper barcodes and puts in some code to let the barcode get its value from another field, however there is a catch. The user filling in the coversheet and then printing it MUST have Adobe Pro. If all the users within our organization must have Adobe Pro and not use any of its features this could be quite costly. And... how about if the public needs to fill in a form and send it to us, they would also need Adobe Pro. At the moment we are talking about 20 perhaps 30 different barcodes and forms, however, if every department within our organization starts to use this to save time, we could be talking about hundreds.

If we could delegate one person per department as the person to create the forms and have the "Reader Extension" Plug in for Livecycle Designer for each of these persons we could perhaps save cost, as this is what this whole procedure is supposed to do in the first place. However, I cannot find out if I can purchase a plug-in for LiveCycle Designer (I have ES4) and how much it would be and for "how many" forms I would even be allowed to use it, or is it unlimited.

Anyone have any ideas?

Are reader extensions part of the ES4 suite or is it an additional purchase or subscription?

What is required to enable a standard user to add a file to a form?

I have a form that I am trying to enable standard users that only have Adobe Acrobat Reader to Add a file to a form.  I have gone into Adobe and I thought I have enabled the appropriate permissions for users to do this function.  What exactly do I need to do the get this function to work?  Is there a program that I am missing?

Rights Management - LiveCycle QR Code Query

**cross posted under Adobe Reader Discussion**

I created a form in adobe pro for teachers to input data in order to create an open house card to give to parents. In Pro, I am able to view the QR generated code (their email address or website). I don't want to collect the data for any reason, but so far my understanding is for it to work in Reader (which, let's be honest, most teachers use) I need to run an extension via Live Cycle - which I guess is something major corporations use, not individuals. I've already done the necessary steps in Pro to enable additional features in reader...but the QR code for the card remains a blank square. I'm attaching screen shots for you to understand the simple scope of my project.

Page 1: What teacher input their data into:

Where the QR code is scannable and works just fine.

I've called the sales reps for LiveCycle... and they have not gotten back to me. I'm a simple teacher trying to make something for other teachers to use. Am I missing a key step? If not, does anyone have any idea of the cost of LiveCycle - can the reader extensions be purchased a la carte?  I can't even find that information on the web! to reiterate - this form works as designed as long as the end user opens the file in adobe pro. adobe reader renders the file useless for the end user. Help?

Is Reader Extensions capable of Multi-Threaded processing?

$

We have a proprietary software suite that utilizes the PDF Generator Service in Livecycle as well as Reader Extensions and the DDX Assembler.

Our customer would like better throughput and wants to enable the Multi-Threaded Conversion outlined here:

LiveCycle ES3 * Enabling multi-threaded file conversions

It looks like PDF Generator supports multi-threaded conversions and from this forum conversation, it looks like the DDX Assembler does as well:

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/773988

But the staff member also indicated that not all services support multi-threading:

"The answer is: it depends.

Assembler itself supports multi-threaded operations, however it also can launch other LiveCycle services a part of its execution (as mentioned above).  If those services are single threaded then that part of the execution may queue up."

He did not specify which ones, though.

What I would like to know: Does anyone out there know if Reader Extensions does or does not support multi-threaded processing?

Thanks!

IPAD fillable form.

I have created a form with a proper submit email button. I am now trying to save a reader extended version, however it says in my document properties (CTRL D) that my security is non-existent, but I still cannot change forms. I've gone back into livecycle to see if saving for an older version of acrobat pro/reader would make a difference, but it doesn't. I am trying to create a fill out form compatible with an IPAD. It works with other desktop computers, but not on the IPAD. The document will open, but not in the typical fill out fashion as with adobe reader on the desktop, and the email button does not work.

Can I apply for the trival version of reader extension?

HI, All

I want to extend my pdf file in my project. But I want to test that if it will work as expected. I have the following 2 questions:

1. Can any body tell me where can I download the trival version of livecycle reader extension? And do I need to apply for any trial license for that?

2. Can I only buy the license for reader extension? Is there any limitation on operating the extended pdf file, like the time for opening or editing the pdf file. Is there any limitation on the number of pdf files extended with the reader extenstion.

My colleague has contacted with Adobe sales, but still did not get a clear answer. Hope I can get the answer here.

Thanks in advance.

Reader Extend from a workflow start point does not seem to be functional

The version of LiveCycle I am currently using is: Adobe LiveCycle Workbench ES4 11.0.1.20130830.1.326386.

Whenever I create a new workflow and have to reader extend the document that the workflow creates, it seems like there is a bug in the GUI that does not allow for this feature to work.

The step by step process of replicating the situation I found myself in, is as follows:

  • Create a fresh new workflow (in the Workbench)
  • Drag in a new Start Point (we'll call this spA for the poc (proof of concept))
  • Select spA
  • Within Process Properties -> Under Presentation and Data
    • Within the Manage Action Profile icon window
      • Under the Default render process configurations
        • Click the PDF bullet
        • Check the Reader Extend Checkbox
        • and then select from the drop down the Reader Extension that you wish to apply

When you deploy the project, you will notice the pdf that is generated is not actually reader extended, at all.  I am not sure if I miss a quick fix that is related to this, or if somehow this is a bug that went unnoticed until now.

The only workaround we have found is to actually manually change the applyRE and credentialAlias in the xdp_dci xml file associated with the new PDF (which gets shoved onto the LiveCycle server.

I have not been able to find any documentation or questions about this issue, hopefully someone in this thread has found a solution.

Reader Extension potential issue

$

Good morning,

I presently use Reader Extension from the server to apply the extension to PDF's I create. It works fine.

And I pay a yearly amount in order to do so.

So let's say I create a form today, apply Reader Extension on it and post it, if in 6months time I stop purchasing the Extended reader, would that form still work or would I encounter an issue due to the fact that I no longer have a valid Reader Extended license (so-to-speak)?

I want to know if me, not having a valid Reader extension (stops paying for it for example) will hinder the forms previously setup with reader? So 200 forms before today have it, in 6 months, I stop buying reader extension... will these 200 forms stop utilizing the Reader Extension features previously applied to them?

Thank you very much for your replies

Looking for a UK supplier for LiveCycle !

Hi,

Does anyone know of a LiveCycle Designer supplier that sells to the UK?? We are currently using ES2 for basic form design and want to upgrade and expand our use of LC to include more of it's functionality.

I contacted Adobe UK who told me LiveCycle was dealt with by their US office. I contacted Adobe US who gave me details for a German company (Ingram Micro).

I contacted the German company who have failed to respond to my message.

I have searched online and found threads indicating that finding a supplier is like finding rocking horse poo. One thread looked like the person had tried contacting most of Europe, but it was a couple of years old so I'm hoping that things may have progressed since then!

Thanks

What replaces Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES4?

I'm currently using Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES4.  We use this to extend our PDF acroforms so they can be run in Reader and execute the JavaScript.  As I understand it this product is reaching end of life. What is Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES4 being replaced with?  I've read several posts regarding this issue but there seems to be some confusion regarding LiveCycle Reader Extensions versus LiveCycle Designer.  I am not using LiveCycle Designer.

Form created through Adobe LiveCycle Designer takes too long to open

I created a PDF form quite complex, though Adobe LiveCycle Designer. Once opened, it works perfectly. However, while it opens quickly in Adobe Acrobat DC (3-4 seconds), it takes excessive time to open  in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (15-20 seconds, depending on the performance of the computer used). Of course I have saved it as a PDF with advanced Adobe Reader functionality). Has anybody any idea on what the problem is, and how could I reduce the opening time? Many thanks.

Undo

Hi Team,

In the Adobe LC designer, the Edit->Undo button is disabled. Is there anyway for enabling the same.

When we do some changes and wanted to do Undo it is not working. So we have to copy the code again from the branch and use the code.

Please provide some resolution on the same.

Thanks
