Can't create a role - no 'ReaderExtensions Invoke'

I am trying to use reader extensions in ES2 (and basically that is all I need it for) .

I read in 'Configuring Authorization for LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES' in Tour de Livecycle that I need to create a role to assign to a user and that  role  must have ReaderExtensions Invoke permissions among others. Makes sense. But when I go to add it I can't find the ReaderExtensions Invoke  permission. What could the problem be?

Note that I have PERM_READER_EXTENSIONS_WEB_APPLICATION , for example.

And I have a local credential for Reader Extensions installed.

(and , it is pretty obvious) a very new user.

Help!

invoke is not a function when invoking SOAP.connect

We are using Reader Extensions ES2 in order to have web service connectivity from our Livecycle PDFs.  When a user completes a worklist item in their workspace, an adobe livecycle process is called via a SOAP connection from the PDF.  This works fine over HTTP.  We are now testing it over HTTPS and it seems to be working fine in Internet Explorer.  However, it does not work in either Firefox or Chrome.

If the user does not have the host (the web site URL) in their Privileged Locations in Enhanced Security, then an error will pop up saying "NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method".

If the user does have the host in their Privileged Locations, then we're getting the error  "TypeError: service.invoke is not a function", service being the Net.SOAP.connect("<URL>"); location.

It seems odd that it is working fine in IE.  There is no error, even if the secure URL is not added into the Privileged Locations section.  I was wondering if anyone might know of a solution or if there are others having a similar problem.

Installation of Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2

Hi,

Adobe has informed us that we need to use Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2 in stead of Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. We had some doubts about the reason why, but that's a different issue.

Now, when we want to order Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2 we need to indicate on what application server we will install (IBM WebSphere / Oracle WebLogic / JBoss). However, I want to install it on a desktop pc. Can anybody explain me which of the 3 options I need to order? What is the difference?

Thanks in advance!

XML data empty after reader extending form

$

Hi,

I'm having a strange problem with Workspace and Process Management after reader extending a form.  The form is bound to a schema, and on an unextended form, the data passes from task to task with all entered information in tact. But as soon as I reader extend the form and deploy it into my application, after the initial submission all I have is a set of empty data:

<xdp:xdp xmlns:xdp="http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/">

    <xfa:datasets xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/">

        <xfa:data>

            </ServiceRequestForm>

        </xfa:data>

    </xfa:datasets>

</xdp:xdp>

In the unextended version, ServiceRequestForm is full of data as passes from task to task.

My workspace start point Action Profile uses '/Process Management (system)/1.0/Submit PDF Form.process' to submit the form.  On the unextended form the Submit PDF Form process runs, but after extending the form it never runs (confirmed by the fact that it does not record the process on an extended form).  Unfortunately I cannot extend the form in the Action Profile itself.

Does anyone know why this might be happening, and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks,

K

TRIM, LiveCycle and PDF forms

Hi,

I am using LiveCycle Designer ES3 to produce a form to which I then applied reader extensions through Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. The users of the form have been using Adobe Reader 9 to fill out and save the form. The form is loaded into TRIM (a records management system. See http://www8.hp.com/au/en/software-solutions/software.html?compURI=1173707) and via a TRIM workflow various users fill it out as required. This was working okay in TRIM until a recent network changeover and this is where the explanation gets complicated.

The form hasn't changed but some users are now on a different network from the TRIM server and these users are also using Reader XI. When trying to get the form out of TRIM to work on it they get a message "This document enabled features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.". Upon opening the form they find it locked down and they cannot make any changes, let alone save them. The thing is the document has not been changed. What has changed is that the document is in TRIM. TRIM is on a different network and the users have to log into it to access it.

I sent a Reader XI user a form via email and they were able to edit and save it. When the user uploaded it to TRIM and tried to open it they received the errror message and were unable to edit the document at all.

Any suggestions or thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Greig

Retrieving the pfx file

Unfortunately, The database which LiveCycleES was using got dropped and i didn't had the backup for the same.

So, I again performed the installation activity of the product using the serial key that i had. But, I don't have the old pfx/p12 file that was used to authenticate in Reader Extension.

Can anyone help me out as from where to get/retrieve the old pfx file.

Reader does a "save as" instead of a "save" on first save of an enabled form

I have a form created using LC Designer and extended using Acrobat (Save As Other --> Reader Extended PDF --> Enable More Tools).

When I enter data using Adobe Reader and File-->Save, it behaves as though I had selected "Save As".  If I want to overwrite the file, it prompts me to confirm.  From then on, when I save it behaves as expected (i.e. it automatically overwrites the file with my changes).  If I close the file and open it again, then make changes, then save, it does a "save as" again.

I don't want it to handle "save" as a "save as".  Anyone know a way to avoid this behaviour?

LiveCycle Designer

I purchased LiveCycle Designer ES4 on February 5, 2018.  I am finding the PDF file generated from LC cannot be used well by my target audience using Adobe Reader.  The users cannot save a electronic copy of the file.  It would appear the solution offered by Adobe would be to obtain license for Reader Extensions, however, I am unable to find a means to accomplish that seemingly simple task.

Can't access modified pdf files protected by a strategy

Bonjour,

The pdf file is well protected and my students have access to «all the Reader's tools».

Yet, if they save their work, they can't access their file anymore.

They get a message stating that since the file had been changed the tools extensions are no longer available.

I want them to write notes on their files during their exams.

I want them to be able to save their pdf files and go back to it after a few minutes or hours.

How do I correct this?

Thanks

How to allow anonymous access to rights managed form?

I have rights enabled a form and created a simple policy that expires the form after a certain date.

Now everytime I open the form, I have to provide livecycle credentials.

What I want is to have a form that will be available to the public but expires after a certain date, after which they have to download an updated version of the form.  The public should not see this login since they wont be setup as a user.

How do I set this up?

Enable spawn pages from template

Hi all,

I have a fill-in PDF form (created in Acrobat Pro X) that uses a javascript button to duplicate pages (spawn pages from template).  We got a trial version of LC Reader Extensions ES in order to enable the button to function in Reader.  The problem is, as I understand it, when our evaluation period runs out, the button will stop working in Reader.  Is this true?  The form will be distributed to LESS THAN 500 people- we just want this button to work for everyone.  Is there another way to enable users of Reader to spawn pages from template?

I don't believe that purchasing the software is an option, as the Adobe Rep on the phone said it would be $10,000 per form. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Greetings,

I am using ES3 to generate a PDF from and XFA assembly.

It is Reader Extended, has form fill-in and Digital Signature enabled - and a Document Open password.

On occasion, when I recieve one of these documents back - instead of being able to remove the Usage Rights in my LiveCycle process, I get the error above.

Removing Usage Rights, Removing Password, Get Signature Fields all fail similarly.

Unlocking Document does not error out.

Any Idea what is 'wrong' with the document?

Acrobat X Pro has no issues opening and accessing the document

Thanks

Quick export question (i hope) for Reader

$

I'm using the following button created in livecycle:

form1.Submit::click - (JavaScript, client)

xfa.host.exportData("",0);

In Acrobat Pro, I get a prompt to save the file as .xml (desired behavior)

I have enabled the form with "extend features in adobe reader" using Pro and have the 'save as' menu item available in Reader, so I know that is working.

However, when the export button is clicked in Reader, it flickers and does nothing.

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks!
