Greetings,
I am using ES3 to generate a PDF from and XFA assembly.
It is Reader Extended, has form fill-in and Digital Signature enabled - and a Document Open password.
On occasion, when I recieve one of these documents back - instead of being able to remove the Usage Rights in my LiveCycle process, I get the error above.
Removing Usage Rights, Removing Password, Get Signature Fields all fail similarly.
Unlocking Document does not error out.
Any Idea what is 'wrong' with the document?
Acrobat X Pro has no issues opening and accessing the document
Thanks
Mark
Hello,
when trying to reader-extend pdf document via LC ES2 service Apply Usage Rights, we got following:
2010-06-04 10:45:29,656 ERROR [com.adobe.livecycle.readerextensions.ReaderExtensionsImplementation] ALC-RES-001-019: The input document is not a valid document type for this operation.
com.adobe.internal.pdftoolkit.core.exceptions.PDFCosParseException: Expected 'xref' : 437523
Reader extending by Adobe Acrobat with the same file works great.
I found, that something with 'xref' was fixed in SP 1b in LC ES (1) (http://pdflab.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=161)
I haven't found any patches for ES2, searching the http://www.adobe.com/support/livecycle/
I would like to ask :
a) do you have any advice how to fix it
b) are there any updates / patches / service packs for LC ES2 ?
Thanks.
Hi,
I'm trying to unlock/remove password on a password protected and reader extended document in a long lived process. Below is the workflow description
A batch process that fires periodically to send service feedback forms to customers.
My findings:
I see that the "Unlock Passwod Encrypted PDF" service works fine in Short Lived Process. I'm unable to make it work in Long Lived process. Can someone please explain this behavior? Why is the limitation to Unlock PDF Password service to work only in short lived process?
Thanks,
Sandeep
Can anybody tell how the credential file is obtained ?
I tried to configure reader extentions in LiveCycle ES2, but it requires credential file, password and user-specified name. I could not find it.

I want to run only LiveCycle Reader Extension ES. Is it possible?
If possible, are there any scope to purchase liveCycle Reader Extension ES software?
Hello,
In a flash application http://livecycleserver:8080/ReaderExtensions, when reader extending document, there is a "full save" checkbox.
When using ReaderExtensionsService -> Apply Usage Rights in LC process, there is not "full save" option. This option is also not documented
in ReaderExtensionsOptionSpec : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm?content=001075.html
It seems, that ReaderExtensionsService works by default in the non-full-save mode.
Is it somehow possible to configure service operation Apply Usage Rights that it would work the same way as works flash application when Full save is selected ?
Thanks.
Hi dear support team,
We have the following workflow that should be supported:
1. Person A generates a PDF document within our java application (third party library). The document should contain the editable fields. Some of them are filled with our application.
2. Person A sends the generated document to person B, who fills in the required fields, saves it and sends back to person A.
3. Person A loads the filled document back to our application (optional).
There will be about 0-5 such documents every day.
We have the following questions:
1. PDF document should contain the reader extentions so that person B could save it. What product do you recommend in order to add the extended rights to the third-party PDF document within the java aplication?
2. What licence is suitable in our case? (We already have Acrobat Licence)
3. What costs we'll face?
Thank you very much in advance for your answer.
I have created several forms in LiveCycle Designer ES4. When I send the forms as dynamic PDFs to others to use they are unable to use the documents. The receive an error when they attempt to open the items stating that they must install the Traditional Chinese Language Support Package. There is no Chinese in the forms. They are entirely in English. How can I fix this issue so that my users can view my forms??
Thanks,
Hi all,
I'm running through an installation of LiveCycle ES with reader extensions. Everything looks on the up and up, but I'm getting "No credential found with alias" in my logs. I have the credential from Adobe installed in the livecycle config console with a random alias. The question is where do I use this alias in my configuration? I'm using WAS 6.1.
I've searched the forums for this error and there was mention of it because there are some user permissions issues, but I'm running WAS under my account which is an admin user.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hello,
I'm trying to programmatically fill an XFA forms with XML data on a PDF document, that has been enabled for saving by Reader Extensions.
After setting the XML data and savind the document, Adobe Readr no longer allows to save the document. Moreover, if I try just to open the document with a PDF library (I've tried PDF Tron, Quick PDF, iTextSharp, PDF One) and save it immediately (without making any modifications), Adobe Reader no longer allows to save the document.
Is it possible to set the data in this document by a third party library and leave the 'save' usage right at all? Or does Adobe Reader do the same magic as Reader Extensions to leave the document extended, when it saves it?
Does Adobe provide (sell?) a dll library that allows to open and set the XML data in a PDF document?
or
Deas anyone know of a library that can do that?
I really need to have those answers because right now we have to make a decision in which way we go with our product.
Thanks,
Maciek
Hi
I have a very essential question. Can a Reader Extended form be used in a closed enviroment. That is a closed network, with no connection to the Internet.
(If not, I have wasted the last 6 months of my life....)

I work for an organization that has purchased adobe livcycle designer suite which includes Livecycle reader extensions. However we do not really have a need (besides perhaps per the EULA), nor the technical support to extend reader documents using the server based LiveCycle Reader extensions. We will definitly be collecting info from over 500 receipients so per the adobe acrobat license agreement:
16.8.3 For any unique Extended Document, Customer may only (a) Deploy that Extended Document to an unlimited number of recipients, but Customer shall not extract data from more than five hundred (500) instances of such Extended Document (or any hardcopy representation of that Extended Document) that contains data from a recipient; or (b) Deploy an Extended Document to no more than five hundred (500) recipients without limits on the number of times Customer may extract data from a recipient from that Extended Document. Obtaining additional licenses to use Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Adobe Acrobat Suite shall not increase
the foregoing limits (that is, the foregoing limits are the aggregate total limits regardless of how many additional licenses to use Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Adobe Acrobat Suite the Customer may have obtained). For the avoidance of doubt, if Customer purchases another Adobe product or service that allows Customer to send a greater number of PDF files or forms (e.g. Adobe FormsCentral or Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions), then the terms of that Adobe product or service shall supersede the terms of this Section 16.8.3
Given the very last sentence, it sounds me like since my organization has provided me with a copy of LiveCycle Reader extensions I can extend the adobe document using adobe acrobat if I wish, and still be within the terms of the EULA, is this the correct interpretation? I would prefer not to actually use the LiveCycle reader extensions as once again we do not have the technical support, nor the need for this server based solutions.

Hi Team,
In the Adobe LC designer, the Edit->Undo button is disabled. Is there anyway for enabling the same.
When we do some changes and wanted to do Undo it is not working. So we have to copy the code again from the branch and use the code.
Please provide some resolution on the same.
Thanks

Hi Folks
I just installed the "LiveCycle ES" Trial version available as VMWare-image for ESX-Server (which uses JBoss) and tried to import the ReaderExtensions credentials.
The instructions at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/samples/ServiceUsageSampleReaderExtensionsDynami callyApplyRights.html say that the password for the pfx file downloaded inside the zip http://www.adobe.com/go/reader_ext_cert is written in the accompanying text file - I can't find any password in the zipped txt-file.
When using "password" as password the import fails stating
any help welcome !!!
best regards

Hi,
I successfully installed Livecycle Server ES3. I logged in and installed Reader Extension Credential. It shows the following detail:
ADMIN
Subject:C=US,O=Adobe Systems Incorporated,OU=Adobe Trust Services,CN=ARE IDev V6.1 P19 0009278
Issuer:CN=Product Services,OU=Adobe Trust Services,O=GeoTrust Inc.,C=US

Problem Accessing Reader Extension:
When I type"localhost:8080/readerextensions" I got the HTTP-403 Error.
I went to Home > Settings > Core System > Core Configurations
and checked 1.Allow non secured document upload from Flex applications
2.Allow non secured document upload from Java SDK applications.
Now I get HTTP Status 404 - /readerextensions - The requested resource (/readerextensions) is not available.
Similarly I cant access "http://localhost:8080//CoreSystemConfig"
Please help me run Reader Extension.
Hi All,
I made a form (which I saved as dynamic) and opened in Acrobat to extend its Reader rights (I suppose this is the only way to extend Reader rights, isn't it?).
After extending its Reader rights, I open it with Reader but commenting is not permitted. Why?
Thanks
Hello all,
I've managed to add a Reader Extensions web service reference to my LiveCycle server in Visual Studio. I'd like to Reader extend a PDF but the only documentation I've been able to find uses C# and I'm working in Visual Basic.
Instead of spending too much time 'translating' I thought maybe someone here might be able to point me in the right direction to some documentation that uses Visual Basic as an example for adding Reader extensions through a web service.
Thanks in advance.
